Documentation Center

Unicamp comprises 20 teaching/research units, of which 10 are institutes and 10 are colleges. One of the latter is based off the Campinas campus, however: the College of Dentistry in Piracicaba. The structure of Unicamp also incorporates two technical schools, a center for higher education in technology and several support units which maintain close contact with the teaching and research units.

Interdisciplinary Centers and Nuclei

In order to collaborate in the solution of pressing social problems, Unicamp avails itself of an infrastructure of 16 nuclei and centers for interdisciplinary research which constitute genuine extensions of the institution into the community. Created in 1983 and consolidated in the 1990's, some of these have become the focus of international interest, as is the case of the Center for Biomedical Engineering and the Nucleus for Biomedical Computer Science, while others, such as the Nucleus for Population Studies and the Nucleus for Computer Science Applied to Education have managed to formulate policies which are being adopted on a growing scale throughout the country. These centers, as well as other units of technical, technological and scientific support, are listed below:
